Neither are debit cards that offer decent rewards, in the form of Walmart Reward Dollars, which you can spend as cash at Walmart stores. Best of all, the math is simple: 1 Walmart Reward Dollar = $1 to spend at Walmart or online at Walmart.ca (you just need to use them in $5 increments). So essentially the earning percentages can be calculated the same way as a cash back credit card, with the caveat that they can only be used at Walmart.

The entry-level Walmart Rewards Mastercard comes in at 1.25% earned on every dollar spent in-store at Walmart or online. The card also offers 1% at gas stations. The Walmart Rewards World Mastercard also offers 1.25% back in-store at Walmart, but increases the incentive to 3% for online purchases and 1.25% at gas stations. Both cards earn 1% on purchases made elsewhere. Where the cards also differ is with the benefits they offer (more on that below).

To help you decide if they’re right for you, we’ll compare the cards and let you know which one is best for each type of shopper.

If you have a high household income (more than $100,000 a year) and shop at Walmart, this is a card to consider. This premium credit card rewards you on your spending, and especially generously online where it offers 3% rewards. It also offers a slightly higher earning rate on gas (1.25%) than the basemap. Other than that, the big difference is the benefits. This gets you a free extended warranty plan, which doubles the manufacturer’s warranty on items purchased with your credit card for up to one year. It also comes with a purchase guarantee that reimburses you if an item you purchased is lost, stolen, or damaged in the first 90 days. If you do a lot of shopping at Walmart for things like home appliances and electronics, you can take advantage of the cash back you would earn along with these benefits.

Walmart rewards Mastercard

Walmart rewards MastercardThis Walmart Rewards Mastercard is much more accessible than the above card and requires the (relatively) low income of $12,000. And, like the Walmart Rewards World Mastercard, it has no annual fee. Of course, it also provides incentives for those who frequently shop at Walmart. Earn 1.25% on every dollar spent at Walmart stores and at Walmart.ca, and 1% everywhere else, including at gas stations. Otherwise, aside from a much higher earning rate on Walmart.ca purchases that the above card offers, and a few missing perks, these cards aren’t very different.
